De La Salle University and GCash have launched theNextGen Tech Builders Program, a fintech engineering elective designed to give undergraduate students practical exposure to software development in financial technology. YugaTech reports that classes begin September 3 and will cover Java, Spring Boot, cloud computing, and microservices, giving students a structured introduction to tools used in production fintech environments.

The partnership includes course materials, cloud-based laboratory environments, and a capstone project based on real-world challenges. Students who complete the elective will have access to fast-tracked pathways to technical roles at GCash. The program reflects the need for Filipino engineers who understand both modern software architecture and the security, reliability, and scale expected in digital financial services. Source:YugaTech.
