Philippine businesses are being pushed to turn technology spending into measurable results faster as artificial intelligence, cloud platforms, automation and analytics become more accessible. A Philippine Daily Inquirer report on EY’sTechnology@Speedframework said access to technology alone is no longer a durable advantage. The differentiator is how quickly organizations can adopt, integrate, scale and use digital tools to improve customer service, reporting, productivity and growth while adapting to geopolitical and market changes. That pressure is especially visible as Philippine firms compete for customers, talent and investment in a faster regional digital market.
The report said technology transformation should be continuous rather than a one-time project with a fixed start and finish. Digital banks are expanding beyond payments into lending, insurance and investment services, while retailers are adding financial products to customer journeys. Startups can also launch sophisticated services with small teams using AI-enabled tools for coding, marketing and content. These shifts compress the time available to older organizations, which must modernize operations while continuing to serve customers, protect data and manage legacy systems under pressure.
EY’s Megatrends 2026 and beyond research describes a new human-machine hybrid era shaped by AI, robotics and other emerging technologies. The report argues that competitive advantage will increasingly come from scaling useful technology effectively, not merely buying access to similar tools. In practice, that requires a trusted data foundation, simpler systems and clear ownership. Philippine companies that cannot connect fragmented databases, manual processes and cybersecurity controls may find that new software adds complexity instead of delivering the promised value for customers, employees or investors.
Leadership remains central to the technology decision. EY research with Oxford Saïd Business School found that 96 percent of transformation programs encounter serious turning points, while 76 percent of leaders view those moments as unavoidable. The Inquirer report says organizations that navigate them well can transform 2.1 times faster and post 1.9 times better key-performance-indicator results. For Philippine executives, the lesson is to pair AI and cloud investment with governance, skills, partnerships and fast decisions when implementation goes off course.
