GCash has added facial verification to GLoan applications through its Selfie Scan feature, giving the digital lender another way to verify that the borrower is the legitimate account owner. YugaTech reports that the additional check is intended to improve security during higher-risk operations. The change comes as mobile lending and digital wallets face continued pressure to protect users from account takeover, phishing, and other forms of unauthorized activity.
GCash is also offering GLoan Protect, which includes Loan Scam Insurance with coverage of up to PHP 10,000 for eligible losses linked to unauthorized account use, phishing, and other fraud. Users who borrow at least PHP 500 may also qualify for a free health-insurance benefit, subject to the stated terms.
