Globe has expanded its Starlink Mobile service to Japan through a partnership with KDDI, giving eligible Philippine subscribers a satellite-enabled roaming option outside ordinary cellular coverage. The move is the company’s first international Starlink Mobile expansion, according to multiple Philippine business reports. Globe’s own service page lists the offer alongside its domestic plans, but the Japan product is a roaming service for travelers rather than a replacement for regular broadband. The arrangement also supports reciprocal access for KDDI customers visiting the Philippines, linking the two operators’ satellite-to-mobile footprints.
The entry package isGoRoam Japan 400, priced at ₱400 for seven days. Globe lists 2 GB of all-access data, 1 GB of satellite data and 50 satellite text messages to Philippine networks. Longer options include GoRoam Japan 700 for 30 days and GoRoam Japan 1,100 for 30 days, with larger allowances. The peso prices are roaming offers, not hardware charges or the company’s separate domestic Starlink Mobile plans. Travelers should check the current Globe page before activation because plan terms, supported destinations and allowances can change.
Globe says the feature is intended formessaging, navigation, light data and supported appswhen conventional networks are unavailable. Users need a compatible 4G, 5G, LTE or VoLTE handset, an active qualifying offer, outdoor access and a clear view of the sky. The public service page identifies select Android and HarmonyOS devices, while iPhone support is listed as coming soon. Satellite availability can vary with location, device compatibility and operating conditions, so the service should not be described as universal coverage or guaranteed high-speed access.
The limits matter for travelers planning connectivity in rural or remote Japanese areas. Globe’s FAQ says torrents, video streaming, heavy downloads and online games are not supported, reinforcing that the service is a fallback channel rather than terrestrial broadband. The company separately lists domestic Philippine Starlink Mobile offers, so readers should not confuse those prices with GoRoam Japan. The new Japan roaming option is useful for basic contact and navigation, but subscribers should review eligibility, sky-view requirements and the latest package details before relying on it during a trip.
