Google has openedGooglebook preorders, a new premium laptop category designed around Android phones and Gemini. The company says orders started September 21, 2026, through the Google Store, Best Buy and other select retailers. The five launch machines come from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo, with the Acer Googlebook 14 setting the entry price at $899. Google describes the line as built on the Android technology stack with desktop foundations from ChromeOS, rather than as a Google-made hardware model. No Philippine launch was announced.

Android integration is the category’s defining pitch. After sign-in, Google says a Googlebook can bring over an Android phone’s settings, saved passwords, Wi-Fi networks and messages with end-to-end encryption. Continue On is intended to resume supported app tasks across devices, while Files exposes phone documents and photos and Cast My Apps streams phone apps in a laptop window. Google says the laptops also combine a desktop-class Chrome browser, Play Store apps and native tools. These features are announced capabilities; independent testing was not yet available before the scheduled retail dates.

Gemini is embedded through several named features. Magic Pointer summons contextual help after a cursor wiggle, including actions such as organizing text or scheduling information from a page. Rambler turns spoken, messy notes into structured writing, while Create My Widget builds desktop widgets from plain-language requests. Google also says every Googlebook includes 12 months of Google AI Pro, with 5TB of cloud storage and Gemini Advanced tools, plus three months of YouTube Premium, Adobe Photoshop and more. These are Google’s product claims, not a Viper hands-on assessment of accuracy, privacy or performance.

Preorders are open now, with shelves starting October 4 in the United States. Google lists October 5 for Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany and Australia. The launch hardware uses Intel Core Ultra Series 3 or Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processors, at least 16GB of RAM and NPUs rated above 45 TOPS, with up to 14 hours of video playback, according to Google; Reuters independently reports the $899 starting price, processor choices and Android/Gemini positioning.**Google has not confirmed Philippine pricing, preorders, retailers or a release date.**This article therefore treats PH availability as unconfirmed.
