Meta has committed to establishing aphysical office in the Philippinesto improve direct communication with government authorities and accelerate responses to online threats. YugaTech reports that the decision follows talks involving DICT, the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center, the NBI, and Meta’s Asia-Pacific policy team. The local presence is expected to help address urgent cases involving AI-generated deepfakes, violent content, and online sexual abuse and exploitation of children, while replacing slower channels routed through regional hubs.

Meta also agreed to form a technical working group with Philippine authorities, designate local points of contact, and respond to legal subpoenas in critical investigations. Officials are exploring a PhilSys-related API for identity and age checks, designed to avoid transferring or storing sensitive database records on Meta servers. The company has not announced an opening date, but the commitment could give agencies a faster path for takedowns and safety requests. Source:YugaTech.
