PEZA has approved ₱297.14 billion in investments from January through September 2026, putting the Philippine Economic Zone Authority within reach of its ₱300-billion full-year target. The agency said the approvals cover 222 new and expansion projects, a 92.07% increase from the same period in 2025. They are projected to generate US$8.94 billion in exports and 33,331 direct Filipino jobs. The result gives the country’s technology and manufacturing sectors a significant pipeline of potential projects, even though approvals are commitments rather than proof that every project is already operating.

September added 26 new and expansion projects worth ₱80.675 billion, according to PEZA. The projects include export manufacturing, facilities, IT-BPM, logistics, utilities and ecozone development across Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Central Luzon and Central Visayas. Five large projects worth ₱77.617 billion are expected to bring shipbuilding, photovoltaic manufacturing, bioethanol, electronics manufacturing and related activities to Tarlac, Cavite, Batangas and Negros Occidental. The geographic spread could widen the technology and industrial base beyond the country’s traditional Metro Manila concentration and spread skilled work across more regions.

PEZA said its operating platform includes 441 economic zones nationwide, with more than 200 inside the Luzon Economic Corridor. The authority is positioning these zones for advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, electronics, aerospace, medical devices, artificial intelligence, digital technologies, logistics and renewable energy. For technology companies, the figures point to possible demand for industrial connectivity, automation, cloud services, cybersecurity and specialized suppliers. However, the projects still need to move from board approval to construction, hiring, production and export delivery before their full economic effect can be measured.

The agency said Taiwan, the Netherlands, South Korea, Singapore and Indonesia were among the leading sources of approved foreign investment during the period. PEZA is also linking its promotion work to wider trade partnerships, including negotiations with the European Union. Director General Tereso Panga said the authority wants to exceed its ₱300-billion target and challenge its record of ₱311 billion. The immediate technology story is therefore not a completed boom, but a growing pipeline that could create jobs, exports and local supply-chain opportunities.
