The Department of Information and Communications Technology has set a**$34.4-billion investment target**through 2033 under the Philippines’ AI+ Infrastructure Masterplan. BusinessWorld reported that the plan combines about $21 billion in private investment with $13.5 billion in public investment to support digital infrastructure. The strategy is intended to position the Philippines as a stronger Southeast Asian AI hub by building on its talent base and IT-BPM industry.
The plan includes faster development ofdata centers, connectivity, and high-performance computing. DICT said at least two US hyperscalers have expressed interest in 200-megawatt facilities each over five years, with development potentially starting next year if negotiations advance. These are reported investment interests, not completed facilities. The masterplan also emphasizes regulation and AI adoption, making infrastructure capacity only one part of the country’s broader AI strategy. Source:BusinessWorld report citing DICT.
